چکیده

this paper concerns the removal of zn 2+ and cr 6+ ions from waste water using a naturally occurring zeolite from semnan region in iran. a continuous fixed-column study was carried out by using zeolite as a low-cost adsorbent for the removal of zn 2+ and cr 6+ ions from aqueous solution under the effect of various process parameters such as, grain size and time. the efficiency of removal is higher for zn than cr ions. the zn 2+ and cr 6+ ions uptake by zeolite increased with initial ions concentration and column height, but decreased as the flow rate increased. the adsorption capacity reached a maximum at grain size of 0.71mm.

Ammonium removal from wastewaters using natural New Zealand zeolites

Ammoniacal nitrogen (ammonia and ammonium) in agricultural wastewaters can promote eutrophication of receiving waters and be potentially toxic to fish and other aquatic life. Zeolites, which are hydrated aluminum-silicate minerals, have an affinity for ammonium ions (NH4"") and are, therefore, potentially useful in removing this contaminant from wastewaters. The major objectives of this study w...

Natural Zeolites Application as Sustainable Adsorbent for Heavy Metals Removal from Drinking Water

Background: There are great resources of natural zeolite in Iran. Zeolite, an inorganic ion-exchanger, may be used as a suitable technical-economical solution for water treatment in many regions of Iran. In this study, the characterization of natural zeolite natrolite and the feasibility of removing hardness, cations, and anions were investigated. Methods: First, zeolite composition and type...

Removal of Heavy Metals from Waste Water Using Water Hyacinth

-Water pollution has become one of the most serious problems of today’s civilization. In the last few years considerable amount of research has been done on the potential of aquatic macrophytes for pollutant removal or even as bio-indicators for heavy metals in aquatic ecosystems. Water hyacinth is one of the aquatic plant species successfully used for wastewater treatment. It is very efficient...
